The existing pool & landscape didn’t match up with the client’s style, so we went to work. This site’s footprint had less square footage than many yards we deal with, so we got creative to incorporate all of the client’s elements. The most obvious example of this is in the transition & balance between lawn & patio spaces. I love the patio’s irregular edge as it breaks away into the usable area of the lawn. In the design, we intentionally downplayed the walls & home’s straight lines to adds interest to the complex layout.

In the pool, we added a new interior, waterline tile, patios & raised stacked stone walls at the back of the pool/spa that housed fountains & layered plantings. This simple addition provided drama, color & interest that and added much to the backyard. The custom wrought iron trellises were a nice touch as well. We can’t forget about the front courtyard! What an excellent entertaining space for an intimate gathering of friends with an outdoor fire pit accompanied by a soothing wall fountain for ambient noise. We are proud of how this unique Paradise Valley retreat turned out!
